Use Forkmate in JetBrains

Junie, JetBrains’ coding agent, signs in to remote MCP servers itself. AI Assistant doesn’t document OAuth, so it uses a small bridge.

Needs a bridge. AI Assistant’s docs don’t cover OAuth for remote servers, so it reaches Forkmate through mcp-remote, which needs Node.js. Junie doesn’t need it.

No Forkmate account yet? Create one free first. It takes under a minute, and JetBrains sends you there on first connect anyway.

Set up Forkmate in JetBrains

https://mcp.forkmate.ai/

Forkmate’s server URL. Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no API key.

  1. 1

    Junie: add Forkmate

    Open Settings → Tools → Junie → MCP Settings and add the Junie JSON below (saved to ~/.junie/mcp/mcp.json).

  2. 2

    Junie: authorize

    The server shows Authorization required. Click Authorize and sign in to Forkmate once in your browser.

  3. 3

    AI Assistant: add the bridge

    Open Settings → Tools → AI Assistant → Model Context Protocol (MCP), click Add, and paste the AI Assistant JSON below. Sign in when your browser opens.

  4. 4

    Log your first meal

    In Junie or AI Assistant, say “I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.” It logs the meal with calories and macros to your Forkmate diary.

Junie (~/.junie/mcp/mcp.json)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "forkmate": {
      "url": "https://mcp.forkmate.ai/"
    }
  }
}

AI Assistant (via mcp-remote)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "forkmate": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://mcp.forkmate.ai/"
      ]
    }
  }
}

mcp-remote is an open-source proxy that runs on your computer, needs Node.js 18 or later, opens the Forkmate sign-in in your browser, and stores the token in ~/.mcp-auth.

What you need

  • A free Forkmate account (sign up). There is no paid plan.
  • A JetBrains IDE with Junie or AI Assistant enabled. AI Assistant’s bridge needs Node.js 18 or later.

What to say first

Once it’s connected, talk to JetBrains the way you’d tell a friend:

I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.

It logs the meal with calories, protein, carbs and fat to your diary at app.forkmate.ai. Then try:

  • How many calories have I had today?
  • Make the toast two slices.
  • What did I eat this week?

Something not working? See troubleshooting, orpick a different assistant. The same URL works in all of them.
