Use Forkmate in Continue
Continue supports MCP servers in agent mode. Its docs don’t document an OAuth sign-in for remote servers, so Forkmate connects through the mcp-remote bridge.
Needs a bridge. Continue’s docs show API keys, not OAuth, for remote servers. mcp-remote handles the Forkmate sign-in for it; it needs Node.js.
No Forkmate account yet? Create one free first. It takes under a minute, and Continue sends you there on first connect anyway.
Set up Forkmate in Continue
https://mcp.forkmate.ai/Forkmate’s server URL. Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no API key.
- 1
Add the server
Add the block below to ~/.continue/config.yaml under mcpServers.
- 2
Sign in to Forkmate once
mcp-remote opens a Forkmate sign-in in your browser. Sign in (or create your free account) and approve access. That one-time OAuth step connects it to your diary and nobody else’s.
- 3
Log your first meal
In Continue (agent mode), say “I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.” It logs the meal with calories and macros to your Forkmate diary.
~/.continue/config.yaml
mcpServers:
- name: Forkmate
command: npx
args:
- "-y"
- "mcp-remote"
- "https://mcp.forkmate.ai/"mcp-remote is an open-source proxy that runs on your computer, needs Node.js 18 or later, opens the Forkmate sign-in in your browser, and stores the token in ~/.mcp-auth.
What you need
- A free Forkmate account (sign up). There is no paid plan.
- MCP tools work in Continue’s agent mode only.
- Node.js 18 or later for the bridge.
Checked September 30, 2026 against the vendor’s documentation: Continue docs: MCP. Continue changes its menus often; if yours looks different, trust what it shows.
What to say first
Once it’s connected, talk to Continue the way you’d tell a friend:
I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.
It logs the meal with calories, protein, carbs and fat to your diary at app.forkmate.ai. Then try:
- How many calories have I had today?
- Make the toast two slices.
- What did I eat this week?
