Use Forkmate in Zed
Zed connects to remote MCP servers and handles the OAuth sign-in itself. Add Forkmate in settings and click Authenticate.
No Forkmate account yet? Create one free first. It takes under a minute, and Zed sends you there on first connect anyway.
Set up Forkmate in Zed
https://mcp.forkmate.ai/Forkmate’s server URL. Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no API key.
- 1
Add a remote server
Open Settings → AI → MCP Servers → Add Server → Add Remote Server, or add the JSON below to settings.json.
- 2
Sign in to Forkmate once
Zed (click Authenticate on the server) opens a Forkmate sign-in in your browser. Sign in (or create your free account) and approve access. That one-time OAuth step connects it to your diary and nobody else’s.
- 3
Log your first meal
In Zed’s agent panel, say “I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.” It logs the meal with calories and macros to your Forkmate diary.
settings.json
{
"context_servers": {
"forkmate": {
"url": "https://mcp.forkmate.ai/"
}
}
}What you need
- A free Forkmate account (sign up). There is no paid plan.
- A recent Zed. Zed 1.21 fixed OAuth for some servers, so update if sign-in fails.
Checked September 30, 2026 against the vendor’s documentation: Zed docs: MCP. Zed changes its menus often; if yours looks different, trust what it shows.
What to say first
Once it’s connected, talk to Zed the way you’d tell a friend:
I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.
It logs the meal with calories, protein, carbs and fat to your diary at app.forkmate.ai. Then try:
- How many calories have I had today?
- Make the toast two slices.
- What did I eat this week?
