Use Forkmate in Claude Desktop
Claude Desktop uses the same connectors as claude.ai, so there’s no config file to edit and nothing to install. Add Forkmate once and Claude Desktop can log your meals.
Opens Claude’s Add custom connector dialog with Forkmate filled in. Connectors you add there show up in Claude Desktop too.
No Forkmate account yet? Create one free first. It takes under a minute, and Claude Desktop sends you there on first connect anyway.
Or set it up by hand
https://mcp.forkmate.ai/Forkmate’s server URL. Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no API key.
- 1
Open Connectors
In Claude Desktop, go to Customize → Connectors.
- 2
Add a custom connector
Click Add custom connector, enter
https://mcp.forkmate.ai/, and click Add. - 3
Sign in to Forkmate once
Claude Desktop opens a Forkmate sign-in in your browser. Sign in (or create your free account) and approve access. That one-time OAuth step connects it to your diary and nobody else’s.
- 4
Log your first meal
In Claude Desktop, say “I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.” It logs the meal with calories and macros to your Forkmate diary.
What you need
- A free Forkmate account (sign up). There is no paid plan.
- Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. Free accounts can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise an Owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors, then you click Connect.
- You don’t need claude_desktop_config.json or a .mcpb desktop extension. Those are for servers that run on your computer; Forkmate is a remote server, and Claude connects to it from Anthropic’s cloud.
Checked September 30, 2026 against these sources: Claude docs: add a connector by URL, Claude docs: install links. Claude Desktop changes its menus often; if yours looks different, trust what it shows.
What to say first
Once it’s connected, talk to Claude Desktop the way you’d tell a friend:
I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.
It logs the meal with calories, protein, carbs and fat to your diary at app.forkmate.ai. Then try:
- How many calories have I had today?
- Make the toast two slices.
- What did I eat this week?
