How it works

Calorie tracking that stays out of your way.

Most people quit calorie counting because logging is a chore. Forkmate lets you write the meal the way you would say it.

Logging is a sentence.

Say what you had, amounts and all. Forkmate splits it into foods and servings for you to check.

The numbers are honest.

Every food on the plate names where its numbers came from. A close match is labelled as one, and when nothing matches, the AI’s estimate is labelled Estimate, never passed off as a database figure.

Showing up is what counts.

No streaks to break and no leaderboards. Log whenever you get to it and see your calories and macros for the day.

The Forkmate diary on a phone: breakfast typed as "two eggs, toast with butter" and logged, then lunch typed as "chicken burrito bowl" and read into foods with calories, waiting on Log it; 1,671 kcal left today
Type it. Forkmate reads the meal into foods and servings for you to check.
The same day after Log it: breakfast and lunch both logged in the chat, and the day counts down to 1,059 kcal left
Log it. One tap, and today’s calories left count down.
The composer's plus menu in Forkmate: scan a barcode, search foods, or log one of your saved recipes, besides typing what you ate
Or tap +. After your first few meals: scan a barcode, search foods, or log a recipe you saved.

AI calorie tracking

Or just tell your AI.

Forkmate is a remote MCP server. It works inside Claude and Cursor, and in ChatGPT where your plan allows custom connectors. Meals you log there land in the same diary as the app. Send a photo of your plate and your assistant works out the foods itself: that read is an estimate, labelled as one in your diary, and you can edit it.

  1. Connect Forkmate to your AIAdd Forkmate to Claude, Cursor or any MCP-capable assistant with one secure sign-in, or a key for apps on your computer.
  2. Tell it what you ateSay it in the chat you already have open, or send a photo of your plate. Your assistant logs it through Forkmate.
  3. See your day in the diaryCalories and macros land in the same diary the app shows, however you logged them.

Forkmate vs typical food trackers

Most trackers bolt “AI” onto photo scanning inside their own app. Forkmate logs from a sentence in its app, or from whatever you tell or show the assistant you already use, and shows where every number came from.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

More in the full FAQ and the guide to AI calorie accuracy.

Is Forkmate really free?

Yes. Everything Forkmate does is free, with no credit card: logging, the diary, barcode scanning, MyFitnessPal import and data export. There are no ads.

Does Forkmate work with ChatGPT and Claude?

Yes. Connect Forkmate once, then tell your assistant what you ate. Claude and Cursor support it, and ChatGPT does where your plan allows custom connectors. You don't need your own AI assistant to use the web app.

How accurate are the calorie and macro numbers?

They are estimates, like every tracker’s. Forkmate matches foods against USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts and restaurants’ published figures, and names each number’s source. A close match is labelled as one; when nothing matches, our AI estimates the food and labels it Estimate, so you can check or change it. Weigh food if you need precision. Forkmate is not medical advice.

Can I import my MyFitnessPal history?

Yes. Request MyFitnessPal’s free Download My Data export (no Premium needed) and drop the file into Forkmate’s importer. Your calories and macros come across exactly as you logged them.

Can I log from a photo?

Yes, through your AI assistant, not in the Forkmate app itself. Send a photo of your plate to Claude, or ChatGPT where your plan allows custom connectors, and it logs the foods through Forkmate. The read is an estimate, labelled as one in your diary, and you can edit it.

Is my food diary private?

Yes. Your diary belongs to your account, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising. The meals you type are read by our AI provider and kept for up to a year to improve matching; see the Privacy Policy. You can export it or delete your account anytime from Settings.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Forkmate runs in your browser on any phone or computer. To keep it one tap away, choose Add to Home Screen in Safari or Chrome.

Log your first meal in a minute.

Free, no card, no ads. Forkmate is in beta: it changes fast and things may break.
