Use Forkmate in VS Code
VS Code can install an MCP server from a link. Click below, approve the install, sign in once, and Copilot Chat in agent mode can log your meals.
Opens VS Code and adds Forkmate. You still sign in once to approve access.
No Forkmate account yet? Create one free first. It takes under a minute, and VS Code sends you there on first connect anyway.
Or set it up by hand
https://mcp.forkmate.ai/Forkmate’s server URL. Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no API key.
- 1
Add the server
Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server, choose HTTP, and enter the URL. Or add the mcp.json below.
- 2
Start it and sign in
VS Code asks to authenticate with Forkmate. Allow it and sign in once in your browser.
- 3
Log your first meal
In Copilot Chat in agent mode, say “I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.” It logs the meal with calories and macros to your Forkmate diary.
.vscode/mcp.json
{
"servers": {
"forkmate": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.forkmate.ai/"
}
}
}What you need
- A free Forkmate account (sign up). There is no paid plan.
- GitHub Copilot in VS Code, in agent mode.
- On Copilot Business or Enterprise, your organization must enable the “MCP servers in Copilot” policy (it’s off by default).

What to say first
Once it’s connected, talk to VS Code the way you’d tell a friend:
I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.
It logs the meal with calories, protein, carbs and fat to your diary at app.forkmate.ai. Then try:
- How many calories have I had today?
- Make the toast two slices.
- What did I eat this week?
Something not working? See troubleshooting, orpick a different assistant. The same URL works in all of them.
