How these articles are written

  • Every post is published by Shawn Azar, who builds Forkmate, and he answers for what it says.
  • Where a post gives a nutrition range or an accuracy figure, it cites the published study it comes from, so you can read the source yourself.
  • A claim about another app (its price, its features) shows the date it was last checked against that app's own pages.
  • No dietitian or doctor reviews these posts, and they are not medical advice. If you have a medical condition or a history of disordered eating, talk to a registered dietitian or your doctor.

How Forkmate gets its numbers

Every food on a Forkmate plate names where its numbers came from: USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, or a restaurant's own published figures. A close match is labelled as one. When none of those has the food, Forkmate's AI estimates it and the line is labelled Estimate, never passed off as a database figure. The guide to AI calorie accuracycovers what the research says about estimates like these.
