MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard that lets an AI assistant use outside tools. Forkmate runs a remote MCP server, so the assistant you already talk to can log what you ate into your own Forkmate food diary and read your calories and macros back.
You add the server once (https://mcp.forkmate.ai/) and sign in to Forkmate to authorize it. Every request is limited to your own account. From then on you describe a meal in plain words, such as “two eggs and toast for breakfast,” and the assistant logs it. Claude and Cursor support remote MCP servers, and ChatGPT does where your plan allows custom connectors.
The server is free, like the rest of Forkmate. It can log, correct and delete meals, read a day or a date range, search USDA and Open Food Facts, and look up a barcode. The guides below walk through setup for each assistant.
