# Use Forkmate in Perplexity

Perplexity can add a remote MCP server as a custom connector. Add Forkmate and Perplexity can log your meals to your diary.

No Forkmate account yet? [Create one free](https://app.forkmate.ai/) first. It takes under a minute, and Perplexity sends you there on first connect anyway.

## Set up Forkmate in Perplexity

Forkmate’s server URL. Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no API key.

1. Open Connectors

In Perplexity, open Account settings → Connectors.
2. Add a remote connector

Choose + Custom connector → Remote, name it Forkmate, enter `https://mcp.forkmate.ai/`, and pick OAuth 2.0 for authentication. Leave the client ID and secret empty.
3. Sign in to Forkmate once

Perplexity opens a Forkmate sign-in in your browser. Sign in (or create your free account) and approve access. That one-time OAuth step connects it to your diary and nobody else’s.
4. Log your first meal

In Perplexity, say “I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.” It logs the meal with calories and macros to your Forkmate diary.

## What you need

- A free Forkmate account ([sign up](https://app.forkmate.ai/)). There is no paid plan.
- Remote custom connectors are for Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise.
- Perplexity’s Mac app also runs local connectors; you don’t need that for Forkmate.
- Perplexity users have reported a sign-in error with servers that register clients without a secret, as Forkmate does. If you see “did not return a client_secret”, tell us at hello@forkmate.ai and use another assistant for now.

Perplexity changes its menus often; if yours looks different, trust what it shows.

## What to say first

Once it’s connected, talk to Perplexity the way you’d tell a friend:

> I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.

It logs the meal with calories, protein, carbs and fat to your diary at app.forkmate.ai. Then try:

- How many calories have I had today?
- Make the toast two slices.
- What did I eat this week?

Something not working? See [troubleshooting](https://forkmate.ai/connect/#troubleshooting), or [pick a different assistant](https://forkmate.ai/connect/). The same URL works in all of them.

## Start logging from Perplexity

Create your free account, connect once, and your next meal is one sentence away. No card, no paid plan.
