# Use Forkmate in Gemini

The Gemini app can connect to an MCP server as a custom app. Add Forkmate on the web and use it from Gemini on the web, iPhone or Android.

No Forkmate account yet? [Create one free](https://app.forkmate.ai/) first. It takes under a minute, and Gemini sends you there on first connect anyway.

## Set up Forkmate in Gemini

Forkmate’s server URL. Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no API key.

1. Open Connected Apps

On gemini.google.com, open Settings → Connected Apps.
2. Add a custom app

Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app and enter `https://mcp.forkmate.ai/`. Click Next.
3. Sign in to Forkmate once

Gemini opens a Forkmate sign-in in your browser. Sign in (or create your free account) and approve access. That one-time OAuth step connects it to your diary and nobody else’s.
4. Log your first meal

In Gemini (pick Forkmate with @ if it doesn’t use it on its own), say “I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.” It logs the meal with calories and macros to your Forkmate diary.

## What you need

- A free Forkmate account ([sign up](https://app.forkmate.ai/)). There is no paid plan.
- Google lists these requirements: 18 or over, in the US, signed in with a personal Google Account (not work or school), Keep Activity on, and English.
- You add custom apps on the web; they then work in the Gemini apps for iOS and Android.
- Google’s page names no subscription requirement. If you don’t see Custom apps, your account doesn’t have it yet.

Checked September 30, 2026 against the vendor’s documentation: [Gemini Apps Help: custom apps](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/17209137). Gemini changes its menus often; if yours looks different, trust what it shows.

## What to say first

Once it’s connected, talk to Gemini the way you’d tell a friend:

> I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.

It logs the meal with calories, protein, carbs and fat to your diary at app.forkmate.ai. Then try:

- How many calories have I had today?
- Make the toast two slices.
- What did I eat this week?

Something not working? See [troubleshooting](https://forkmate.ai/connect/#troubleshooting), or [pick a different assistant](https://forkmate.ai/connect/). The same URL works in all of them.

## Start logging from Gemini

Create your free account, connect once, and your next meal is one sentence away. No card, no paid plan.
