# Use Forkmate in Cline

Cline connects to remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP. Add Forkmate from the Remote Servers tab.

No Forkmate account yet? [Create one free](https://app.forkmate.ai/) first. It takes under a minute, and Cline sends you there on first connect anyway.

## Set up Forkmate in Cline

`https://mcp.forkmate.ai/`

Forkmate’s server URL. Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no API key.

1. Open Remote Servers

Click the MCP Servers icon in Cline, then Configure → Configure MCP Servers → Remote Servers.
2. Add Forkmate

Server Name: forkmate. Server URL: `https://mcp.forkmate.ai/`. Transport Type: Streamable HTTP. Click Add Server.
3. Sign in to Forkmate once

Cline (click Authenticate on the server) opens a Forkmate sign-in in your browser. Sign in (or create your free account) and approve access. That one-time OAuth step connects it to your diary and nobody else’s.
4. Log your first meal

In Cline, say “I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.” It logs the meal with calories and macros to your Forkmate diary.

cline_mcp_settings.json

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "forkmate": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://mcp.forkmate.ai/",
      "disabled": false
    }
  }
}
```

Set type explicitly: without it Cline falls back to the older SSE transport.

If Cline doesn’t offer to sign you in, use the bridge instead

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "forkmate": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://mcp.forkmate.ai/"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

mcp-remote is an open-source proxy that runs on your computer, needs Node.js 18 or later, opens the Forkmate sign-in in your browser, and stores the token in ~/.mcp-auth.

## What you need

- A free Forkmate account ([sign up](https://app.forkmate.ai/)). There is no paid plan.
- Cline’s docs cover remote servers but don’t document OAuth sign-in. If your version doesn’t prompt you to authenticate, the bridge config works in any version.

Checked September 30, 2026 against the vendor’s documentation: [Cline docs: remote servers](https://docs.cline.bot/mcp/connecting-to-a-remote-server). Cline changes its menus often; if yours looks different, trust what it shows.

## What to say first

Once it’s connected, talk to Cline the way you’d tell a friend:

> I had two eggs and toast for breakfast.

It logs the meal with calories, protein, carbs and fat to your diary at app.forkmate.ai. Then try:

- How many calories have I had today?
- Make the toast two slices.
- What did I eat this week?

Something not working? See [troubleshooting](https://forkmate.ai/connect/#troubleshooting), or [pick a different assistant](https://forkmate.ai/connect/). The same URL works in all of them.
